Carrots in maple syrup

Ingredients (6 portions)

  • 5 cups carrot sticks
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or organic syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp. powdered mustard

Steps

  1. Put carrot sticks into a saucepan and add enough water to just cover the carrots.
  2. Add the other ingredients and cook until the liquid has almost completely evaporated.
  3. About 5 minutes before carrots are cooked, sauté the carrots over high heat, swirling the saucepan or gently turning the carrots with a spatula to completely coat the carrots with the syrup at the bottom of the pan.
